What to do once you receive notification that your samples are ready.

Receive notification that your samples are ready for pickup.
We will notify you by email when your samples are ready and remind you of your unique project ID.

Schedule a day to come to Michael Smith Laboratories.
Pickup services are available Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Coordinate with our team to choose a day that works for you. We require at least 24 h prior notice before any pickups.

Head to MSL Reception.
Take the elevator or stairs up to room 301.

Find the sample box labelled with your unique project ID.
Look for your box on the counter by the window. The box will be labelled with the project ID written in your pickup email.

Sign and date the pick-up sheet.
Find out the row that corresponds to your project ID on our pick-up sheet.

All set! Your RNA is ready to go.
Please keep your sample box and bring it back to RNA & Formulation Core during your next visit.
What to do if you are dropping off DNA to our facility.

Label your samples with your unique project ID.
Once your order is confirmed, use the unique project ID we supply to label your samples.
If you have more than one sample,
- Number each sample.
- Label your samples as follows: {Project ID}.{Sample Number}
For example, if you have two samples and your project ID is UBC0001, sample 1 would be labelled UBC0001.1 and sample 2 would be labelled UBC0001.2.

Take the elevator or stairs up to room 301.

Find our DNA Drop-off fridge.
Look for a mini fridge on the counter by the window.

Fill out a DNA Drop-off form.
Our drop-off forms are available on top of the mini fridge. Use the provided marker to fill out a form. If you have >5 samples, please fill in a second form.

Package your DNA.
Place your samples and completed DNA drop-off form into one of the provided resealable bags.

Place your DNA in the mini fridge.
Once your DNA has been placed into the mini fridge, please email our team. We will pick up your samples.

All set! Your order will be processed shortly.
Our team will notify you once we have picked up your samples and get started on your order.
What to do if you are dropping off RNA for our QC services.

Complete a QC Service Request form online.
We offer both capillary electrophoresis RNA analysis and dsRNA slot blot analysis. Fill out our form with your specific analysis request. Use the button to navigate to our online form.

Receive a confirmation email.
You will be emailed a unique submission ID. Our team will email you to confirm that your order has been placed.

Schedule a day to come to Michael Smith Laboratories.
Our drop-off services are available from Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Coordinate with our team for a day that works for you.

Prepare and label your RNA.
Prepare your RNA for analysis based on the instructions written on the request form or below.
Sample preparation for capillary electrophoresis
RNA must be prepared at 3.75 µg in 75 µL (50 ng/µL).
Samples should be labelled: CE{submission#}.{sample number#}.
For example, three samples with submission ID 22 would be labelled: CE22.1; CE22.2; CE22.3.
Sample preparation for dsRNA slot blot
RNA must be prepared at 500 ng/µL, with a minimum volume of 6 µL.
Samples should be labelled: SB{submission#}.{sample number#}.
For example, three samples with submission ID 22 would be labelled: SB22.1; SB22.2; SB22.3.

Print your completed QC Service Request form.
Please provide a printed copy of your completed QC Service Request form.

Package your RNA for drop-off.
Package your labelled RNA in a Styrofoam box with at least 1 lb of dry ice.
Affix your printed QC Service Request form to the box.

Head to MSL Reception.
Take the elevator or stairs up to room 301.

Drop-off your RNA.
Place your box containing packaged RNA for drop-off on the counter by the window.

Contact RNA & Formulation Core.
Email our team that your RNA has been dropped off. We will pick up your RNA.
